SX28 Development Board

The SX28 Development Board is designed to assist students and hobbyists in experimenting with the Parallax SX28 Microcontroller.  The board’s dimensions and features were selected to fit in with the current series of development and prototyping boards available from Parallax Inc.  Currently, Parallax produces development boards for the SX28 that offer only an on-board power supply and either a miniature breadboard or solder pad prototyping area.  These existing boards are limited in their usefulness because of their minimal feature set.  In an effort to more effectively use the space available on a Parallax standard 3.1 inch by 4 inch PCB, the SX28 Development Board features an onboard power supply (+5 Volt, 5 Amp regulated), standard servo headers, integrated FTDI USB to Serial adaptor, 8-pin socket for an I2C EEPROM, and a bank of 8 discreet LEDs.  Board power can be supplied from either the regulator or the USB interface; however servo power is only available from the regulated or unregulated power input.  The addition of these components allows the SX28 Development Board to serve as a single multi-purpose board so that the user is not limited by the necessity for multiple boards.
